Dipped candles made from tallows were made by the Romans beginning about 500 BC. Candles were made from whale fat in China dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221–206 BC). In India, wax from boiling cinnamon was used for temple candles. Floral candles, as the name suggests, are inspired by flowers or natural vegetation.
